You In?User guide

Your safety comes first

You can change your mind, stop a conversation or leave a meeting at any time. Uncomfortable behaviour is not your fault.

Immediate danger

Get to a safer public place if possible and contact local emergency services. Ask someone nearby for help. You In? reports are not monitored as an emergency service; do not wait for an app response.

An uncomfortable Swipe interaction

  1. Skip a profile or leave a wave unanswered. You never owe someone a response or a connection.
  2. If a profile contains threats, harassment, impersonation or inappropriate content, use the person's ⋯ menu to Block or Report. If the menu is not visible on the card, find the person in Chats or Nearby where available.
  3. Do not share your home address, daily routine, login codes or financial information. A photo or verification badge is not a guarantee that someone is safe.

A chat that crosses your boundaries

  1. Stop replying whenever you want. If it feels safe, you can say: ‘I'm not comfortable with this. Please stop.’ You do not need to explain or confront the person.
  2. Before removing the connection, save relevant messages or screenshots for a report if it is safe to do so. Keep evidence private rather than posting it publicly.
  3. Use Block to stop contact, or Report to send the concern to the team. To end a mutual connection, use Remove connection in Chats. Removing a connection is not the same as blocking; use Block if you want to prevent further contact.
  4. Do not send money, move to another messaging service under pressure, or open suspicious links. If you shared a password or payment details, secure your account and contact your bank or payment provider as appropriate.

Feeling uncomfortable at an event or meeting

  1. Before attending, check the public venue, date, time and conditions. Arrange your own transport and tell someone you trust where you are going.
  2. You may decline an invitation, leave a Community event or cancel your attendance at any time. Joining or accepting does not create an obligation to stay.
  3. If someone pressures, follows or touches you without consent, move toward staff or other people and leave if you can. Ask venue staff, the host or someone you trust for help only when doing so feels safe.
  4. After reaching safety, report the person through their safety menu where available. Include the event title, venue, date, approximate time and what happened. Do not publish other attendees' private details.

Making a useful report

  1. Open the person's ⋯ menu, select Report, choose a reason and describe the behaviour. Include specific messages or circumstances rather than assumptions.
  2. The report form also attempts to block the person. Check the confirmation; if blocking did not succeed, use Block separately. Keep any evidence you may need before blocking or removing the connection.
  3. Reports are private and sent to the team for review, not posted on the person's public profile. There is no guaranteed immediate response. Do not retaliate or contact the person again to investigate.
